The earthquake isn’t over.

October 5th, 2011

On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 Earthquake hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

In mere seconds thousands of people lay dead or trapped beneath the rubble. Entire neighborhoods were destroyed. The nation’s already haphazard infrastructure collapsed, and so did the facilities used by the Adoration Christian Centre. Two of our teachers who were elsewhere that day were killed in the tragedy. Most of our students were left homeless.

Many of you responded to the incredible challenge by supporting Adoration (then called CDIA Coram Deo International Aid) in our relief efforts. We are thankful for this support, and wanted to let you know that we haven’t forgotten you.

It’s true, the physical shaking of the earth has long passed, but for many, the aftershocks continue. Poverty and suffering are ever-present, but there is hope.

Prior to the earthquake, Adoration Christian Centre was providing a free Christian day school, a regular medical clinic, community programs and Bible study groups. At the school, children from the Delmas area in Port-au-Prince, were offered a Christian education, two nutritious meals, and medical care if they needed it. Most of the children at Adoration school would not be able to otherwise attend school because of poverty or disability.

Now, as the shock and empathy fade, we urge you to keep that fire burning in your heart and help us rebuild and grow the mission. There is much work to be done and God uses people like you for his Kingdom work. Consider continuing to support Adoration Christian Centre by staying informed, praying, getting involved or a giving a financial gift.
