Adoration Christian School and Word and Deed are looking for enthusiastic and able-bodied men and women to serve on a work team in Haiti this summer. We are looking for painters, carpenters, concrete workers and general handy men (and women)! We are hoping to send two teams this summer, the first in July 15 – July 25 and the second from August 4 – 14. Adoration Christian Centre and School
Well, we are very blessed to have wrapped up another school year! We just arrived back to our home in Haiti from vacation, and are gearing up to start a new school year! As we gear up, we are reflecting on the past year, of all the amazing things the Lord has done for us, the school and Centre. And we realize that we have done a very poor job of sharing the things that are happening here at Adoration. To try to remedy this, we are going to post some of the highlights from the past year as we celebrate with our staff, students and their families the opportunities that we have had. In doing this, we also want to send a ginormous thank-you to all the supporters of Adoration. Because of your generous support more than 350 at-risk children and youth were able to have the opportunity to go to school this past year, receiving an essential 2 meals a day. We ask and pray that you will continue to partner with us as we seek to provide a solid Christ-centred education for the children and youth in this community.
Adoration was able to have 4 levels of Special Needs this year with a total of 31 students. Here are some photos from this past year.
Adoration has 3 levels of Kindergarten with 18 – 20 students in each class. Here are some of the very cute students from the past year.
Fast-Track Class
We started the year out having 4 classes under the tent. In January we were able to rent a portion of land next to Adoration, which was a shop for a construction company. With the help of parent and student volunteers, a work team, some hired hands, and another class from a local christian high school, we were able to transform the hangar into a secondary school, with a soccer field and a playground. It has been a real blessing having this for the students.

Besides having a great local staff, we had so many people help out this past year to make all our programs a success. We have had many parents come in and volunteer their time getting the school ready, covering books with plastic, help distribute food at each meal time, help with the cleaning and fixing up of the property. Many of the students helped out too, fixing tables and benches, cleaning the bottom property, cleaning every day at the school and painting.

This past year Adoration was able to provide various educational opportunities for the community to help equip and strengthen them. We have some very talented staff who worked hard to provide different seminars and courses for the community. Here are some pictures of some of the opportunities.

Adoration Christian Centre is currently looking for 4 teachers to come to Adoration Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, from August 14-23, 2014, to conduct teaching seminars with its staff. Applicants should have a minimum of one year of teaching experience. We are especially looking for 2 highschool and 2 gradeschool teachers to cover a variety of education topics yet to be determined. Looking for a nice warm ‘vacation’ but get bored just walking on a beach? Adoration Christian Centre in Haiti is looking to host a team of six (6) members on August 11-20, 2014. This team will be working on various tasks on the school property to prepare it for the upcoming school year. Applications and more information can be obtained by emailing [email protected] or by calling Erin at 519-415-4415. Applications are due by May 31, 2014 (extended from May 12) and interviews will follow the same week.
Come join us for a dessert evening this Sat., Nov. 9 at Guido de Bres High School to hear how the Lord is continuing to bless the work of the Adoration Christian Centre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Cornelius and Mindy Broersma, recently returned from two years of service with the project, will share with us their experiences in supporting the Adoration school and staff and the impact that this project is having in the Delmas neighbourhood, one of the most poverty stricken areas in the country. Doors open at 7:30 p.m – presentations around 8 p.m. Tickets: $15. Contact Mindy Broersma at [email protected] and paid for at the door. There will also be a freewill offering taken up during the evening for the ongoing support of the Adoration project by Word & Deed Ministries.
